08/52 - Frame 14

A foto desta semana, não foi tirada esta semana... Mas foi revelada esta semana, o que já não é de todo mau... Isto porque a foto desta semana é uma foto tirada em rolo (neste caso de slide). Trata-se pois de uma pequena celebração ao facto de felizmente ainda haver muita gente que também, ou só, fotografa em filme.

Fotografar em analógico é fotografar por paixão. Quase ninguém hoje em dia teria a paciência de tirar (poucas) fotos, levar o rolo a revelar, esperar, e só depois ver que as fotos que tinha tirado no casamento daquela Tia de França estavam TODAS desfocadas... J Existe todo um ritual que deve ser cumprido com o analógico e que quase elevam a Fotografia a uma religião.

Este rolo era de slide ou diapositivo (Fuji Velvia 100ASA) e serviu para experimentar a câmara que eu comprei no Ebay (Canon 500). O rolo que eu já tenho carregado nessa câmara é um Ilford HP5+ (preto & branco) e este já tenciono ser eu a revelar. Talvez numa próxima semana...

PS: Não foi usado Photoshop para adicionar a moldura... É verdade criançada, um fotograma em rolo tem mesmo aquele aspeto... J

The photo I bring this week, was not taken this week… But it was developed this week, which is not that bad… And that is because this week’s photo was taken with film (in this case slide). It’s a little celebration to the fact that there are people who, only or also, shoot with film…

Shooting in film is shooting for passion. Almost no one has the patience to shoot (a few) photos, take the film to develop, wait, just to find out that those shots taken at that French Aunt are ALL out of focus… J With analogue there is a ritual that has to be followed and that almost elevates Photography to a religion.

This roll was a slide roll (Fuji Velvia 100ASA) and was used to try out a camera I bought off Ebay (Canon 500). The roll I already have loaded in my camera is a Ilford HP5+ (black & white) that I intend to develop myself. Maybe some other week…

PS: No Photoshop was use to create that border. That’s right boys and girls, film really looked that way… J

07/52 – Monumento ao Trabalho, Almada, Portugal / Monument to Work, Almada, Portugal

O Monumento ao Trabalho é uma peça de Arte Pública esculpida pelo Mestre José Aurélio em 1993 e encontra-se em Almada. Representa o trabalho e a solidariedade do povo através de duas mãos entrelaçadas.

A minha ideia para esta peça era a de utilizar Pintura de Luz conferindo-lhe uma atmosfera diferente, no entanto a zona e a própria escultura encontram-se muito bem iluminadas (demais, na verdade) para poder utilizar as ferramentas comuns de Pintura de Luz. Sabia que iria ser um desafio, no entanto, tentei e eram já 1h30 a.m. quando me desloquei até esta escultura, mas o máximo que consegui foi uma orbe de luz muito fantasmagórica.

The Monument to Work is a Public Arte piece sculpted by Mestre José Aurélio in 1993 and it’s located in Almada, Portugal. It represents work and solidarity among the people through two ands intertwined.

My idea for this sculpture was to use Light Painting to give it a different atmosphere, however both street and sculpture are to much well lit in order to use the common Light Painting Tools. I knew it would be a challenge, however it was 1:30 a.m. when I drove to this sculpture, and the most I could get was a ghostly (and very faint) light orb.

06/52 - Arcane Roots @ TMN ao Vivo, Lisboa, Portugal

Terça-feira passada os californianos Awolnation atuaram na Sala TMN Ao Vivo em Lisboa com um espetaculo repleto de energia e que não deixou ninguém indiferente... Demonstraram acima de tudo que não são um “One Hit Wonder” mas que têm um reportório sólido e cheio de grandes músicas, apesar da sua curta discografia. Mas desenganem-se se julgam que são essas fotos que aqui vou publicar. As fotos dos Awolnation podem ser vistas no site da revista Arte Sonora e podem inclusivamente ser compradas aqui, ou aqui.

A foto que hoje publico é da banda que antecedeu os Awolnation, este concerto teve como primeira parte o britânico Itch e os seus conterrâneos Arcane Roots. Esta foto é justamente do vocalista da última banda, Andrew Groves.

Esta foto foi a primeira que tirei quando cheguei ao concerto e gostei muito da expressão do vocalista e do jogo de cores das luzes de palco que lhe iluminaram a cara.

Last Tuesday, Californian band Awolnation performed at the TMN ao Vivo venue in Lisbon, with a show packed with energy that left no one indifferent… They proved that they’re not a “One Hit Wonder” and have a solid repertoire despite their short discography. But don’t get me wrong, I’m not posting any Awolnation photo. Those can be seen at the Arte Sonora magazine website and can be even purchased here, or here.

The photo I’m posting is from the band that preceded Awolnation, because this show had the British Itch and it’s fellow countrymen Arcane Roots. This photo is from this last band’s frontman, Andrew Groves.

This was the first shot I took when I arrived at the venue and I really liked his expression as well as the colours from the stage lights that lit his face.

05/52 - (Genesis 1:1) No Principio... In the Beginning...

Neste caso, no principio não se deu a criação da terra nem dos céus... Neste caso, no principio era uma placa Arduino (Arduino Mega 2560). Depois?! Depois, fez-se luz... E a luz veio de uma Vara de Luz Digital com 54 Leds.

Pois é, esta é a primeira peça que culminará com a criação de uma Vara de Luzes Digital capaz de produzir imagens no ar... Mais sobre isso depois... Numa das semanas seguintes...

In this case, in the beginning there were no heavens nor earth… In this case, in the beginning there was an Arduino Board (Arduino Mega 2560). Then?! Well, then there was Light… And the light came from a 52 Led Digital Lightwand.

That’s right, this is the first part that will create a Digital Light Wand capable of producing images in the air… More about that later… In a following week…
