41/52 - Westerkerk (Igreja Ocidental), Amsterdão, Holanda / Westerkerk (Western Church), Amsterdam, Holland

Back from Amsterdam and unlike what I said in my previous post, this week's photo is not of a Cofeeshop, it is not of the canals that go through the city, and it is not of the windmills just outside the city. This week's photo is of the interior of Westerkerk (literally Western Church). This protestant church is packed with history. Rembrant van Rijn was buried here, and given it's proximity to Anne Frank's House it's bell is referenced in her diary while she goes into hiding, with her family , from the Nazi prossecution in a concealed part of her father's jams company building. Reaching the top of this church's tower is also a High point (no pun intended) of any trip. From there you can see a remarkable view of the city of Amsterdam.

In this picture, we find not only one of the chandeliers that light the interior of the church but also it's organ Roelof Barentszn Duyschot, named after it's builder.
